I bought this microscope after seeing someone else in a houseplant group/community share photos they took with it of insects that were living on their plants. I, too, am a houseplant enthusiast and am always asking myself “bug, or not a bug?” (And dread the answer being “bug” because my plants are all kept in the same sunroom and they’ll spread so I have to treat them all). Well, I am happy to say this little microscope has ended the days of the “bug/not a bug” game for me, saving me lots of anxiety and time frantically treating and showering my plants for no reason! It’s very easy to use and connects easily to my iPhone via Bluetooth and WiFi, as well as my fiancés phone, which is an android (which seems to have a lot of issues with apps that work perfectly fine with iPhones). I haven’t had any additional needs for it just yet, but can totally see this being a useful little tool to have around the house for random things - I’ve been meaning to look at a scratch on my engagement ring with it too! Definitely recommend as a fun toy to have for different hobbies, image quality is great for my purposes and can see it being really fun for little experiments with kids! Worth the price and recommend for hobbyists and parents looking for fun educational activities with the kids!

This is a very handy microscope. It is fairly durable as well. I've dropped it a few times (about 3') and it is still working just fine. The ability to review the pictures in the app is a nice feature. It works best without the stand. I just put the clear lens up against whatever I'm looking at to keep the focus steady. I have not attempted to take any video.The only real issue I have (the reason I did not give it 5 stars) is the zoom level. It is NOT 50x - 1000X!Using a scale I determined the optical zoom level to be 20X with up to a 40X DIGITAL zoom.All in all I still believe it is well worth the price (about $30).

I am a scientist and I use this device on almost a daily basis. I have taken a few hundred pictures by now and they are more than sufficient for what I need them for (documenting flaws). It connects fairly well, but it does need some patience if you are in an area where your cell phone has little service (it connects via wifi, but a low cell signal seems to cause some major lag problems). Focus is simple, zoom works well, the lights provide sufficient backlighting and the focus is straight forward and easy to use (if you are holding it a certain way). It takes awhile to charge, but the battery seems to hold a sufficient charge to take dozens of pictures (I have never had it die on me so far). Complaint wise...the engineers/designers could put a little more thought into the focus ring when holding the device. It is recessed and can only be easily adjusted if it is held just right. I imagine that it was more intended to be used with the stand, but I use it as a handheld. The cap is kinda pathetic and has a tendency to fall off in your pocket or when handling with it installed. And finally, there isn't any orientation (that I have noticed) printed or indicated on the device to make sighting more convenient. The orientation is also as such that holding the device, focusing, zooming and/or taking a pic (with the device button) really awkward when using it as a handheld and one-handed. Other than that it is a fantastic device for the price and works very well even compared with similar devices that cost several times more.Adjusted my review to 5 Stars due to the additional CS that they have provided, which was very quick, pleasant and helpful.
