One Golden Summer

absolutely fantastic!!!
One Golden SummerBy Carley Fortune“Good things happen at the lake.”“The eight weeks I spent in Barry’s Bay were a turning point. I often felt invisible as a teenager, but behind a lens, invisibility became my superpower. With a camera, I discovered a place in the world where I thrived. I’m a better photographer now, but the way I shot back then, standing on the edge of the dock, had a purity I’ll never recapture. I was doing something just for myself. Maybe this summer could be a turning point, too.”“You must have seen us, We would have been on the water from dawn till dusk, and we weren’t quiet. Why didn’t you say hi?”“I was shy, I could have said hello, but I wouldn’t have known what to say next.”“I can’t picture you as shy.”Going back to Barry’s Bay was everything I was hoping it would be and more!! I absolutely love this book and all the nostalgia it brings. “Good things happen at the lake.” And that’s exactly what happened for Charlie and Alice! They bring out the best in each other and the trip to the lake helped heal them both. They are perfect for each other and then to see glimpses of Percy and Sams and their life together, this book was just breathtaking and fantastic! I think I love it more than Every Sunmer After.Tropes:Friends to LoversForced ProximityFound FamilySummer NostalgiaSpice Starts at: 53%🔥Spice: 2/4🌶️Stars: 5/5⭐️ ♾️

Stunning
Possibly my favorite Carley Fortune novel yet?? Absolutely stunning. Who knew it would feel so good to back to Barry’s Bay. The character development was perfection and every chapter had me kicking my feet, laughing, and gasping!

read it
Absolutely delightful. I have read all of her books and have loved each one.I bought it in the evening and of course stayed up too late so I could finish it.

This book made me happy
I don't know when a book has made me happy; I was smiling when I finished. Yes, it's flawed - the obstacle is obvious, the romance is drawn out, the dialogue is more 15 than 35 - but it's the sequel to Fortune's first book with all the right feels! It's the perfect summer read. Fortune's 2nd book was tedious and I didn't attempt the 3rd due to poor reviews, but this is her milieu.

One GOLDEN Story
Carley Fortune does it again!! I have LOVED every one of her books, and this one is no exception. The story took so many turns and I never knew what was coming next…I found myself frustrated often with Charlie’s actions, but near the end completely understood his reasoning for being the way that he was. 10/10 recommend!!

"The thing about love languages is it's not just about how we express love, but how we receive love"Read if you enjoy:- Lake Setting- Summer Vibes- Feel like 17 again!- Forced Proximity- Bucket Lists- Friend to Lovers- BanterI was so genuinely surprised to realize that this was Charlie’s book, a sequel to Every Summer After. I have to say that Fortune’s books have been a hit or miss for me despite the popularity behind Every Summer After, which was not one of my favorites. However, I went into this one without realizing that it was Charlie’s story and I have to say he has redeemed himself! This is Carley Fortune’s best book yet.I love the vibe of this book! To return to a place you feel happy and whole and experience it with a bucket list as if you are 17 years old all over was such a breath of fresh air. When life hits and gives you lemons, you gotta make the best of the situation and it was great to see that transformation in Alice and how she takes her life back with what fills her in her journey to self discovery.Charlie was so vulnerable and filled with his own troubles. Love the connection between the characters. I loved how despite the attraction, it started as a friends to lovers trope. Loved finding out the meaning behind the yellow boat and the three teenagers in it. What a sweet treat from Fortune. I loved Charlie’s charm and banter with Alice. Their connection had me rooting for them.Audiobook Review:I love it when narrators can pull you in such a way that you feel like you are truly living the story. AJ Bridel did a wonderful job with this story. I listen at a quicker pace so the voice, speed and expression were just perfect. Loved that I got to hear Carley Fortune herself read parts of the introductions.

best yet - must read!!
Carley went back to her roots like Book 1 of this series + poured her heart into this book. Devoured it in 48 hours + enjoyed the journey of Alice and Charlie. So good!!
