Well built
This is a well build microscope for the price range, I have seen some that looked good but I felt could have been built better. My wife knows how these work, so she has gotten the kids involved and now every now and then something gets slid onto a piece of glass and examined under the microscope. The microscope works well, good images, firm dials and well lit.you have everything you need to use the microscope, obviously if you want to make more slides you will need the other things.

Well Built, Simple to Use and Performs Well
The media could not be loaded. This microscope arrived in its own carrying/storage case inside a sturdy cardboard box. The case is lined with dense, custom moulded foam and the scope is well protected by it.The included accessories are shown in the product description and attached pictures so I won’t list them. The three objective lenses (4X, 10X and 40X) rotate and click into place. The various eyepieces just drop into the top of the tube. There are coarse and fine focus knobs on both sides of the instrument which raise or lower the stage to bring things on it into focus. The stage has two slide clips. The LED illumination can be from below or from above the subject and light intensity is variable with a small rotating knob.Ever since I saw some images from Robert Hooke’s ‘Micrographia’ as a child I’ve been fascinated by the microscopic world. I was given a small microscope as a gift when I was a youngster and spent hours looking at anything I could find to see what it looked like at that scale. I still have that microscope but this is something of an upgrade!Although there is some lens aberration at very high magnification this microscope performs very well indeed. It’s simple to use with very smooth focus controls and the variable light intensity really helps depending on what you’re viewing. This microscope isn’t a laboratory instrument but it certainly is good enough for most general use and should inspire an interest in the microscopic world in most children (and adults!). Whilst it is solid and well built with a good range of accessories I do think it’s overpriced at almost £100 and it loses a star because of this.

Good for kids or anyone new to this
This microscope provides everything to get started with checking out the microscopic world. It would suit a child very well, but also adults who have never really used a microscope.

Great for primary age
I asked my husband who is a science teacher to have a look at this item before giving it to our grandchildren. Here are some comments from him which might prove useful to a potential buyer:• Inbuilt lamp via plug in, but can also be battery powered (batteries not included)• Lamp brightness is variable.• Eye tube is plastic, most other parts are metal• 3 objective lens's - x4, x10 and x40• 3 eyepiece lens's - x2, x10 and x25• 10 preprepared slides included in set - insect parts, plant parts and mammal parts.• Corse and fine focus knobs makes focussing easy.• At higher magnifications image suffers from some distortion.• Good microscope for an introduction to investigation and science. Best for primary age children.Quite pricey (hence 4 stars) but well made.

Really Impressed
I have to say I am really impressed by the this microscope, on inspection it is not a toy, it is made from metal, and quite heavy, you also get slides, tweesers a pippette, and various other bits and pieces, there is everything in the box to get your budding scientist off and running, the LED light on the lense lights everything up, so you can see everything in minute detail, the magnification is excellent, and a bit scary, as you are seeing things for what they really are, this microscope would be ideal for a student or a science mad grandson, I cannot give you any technical detail as I really know nothing about them, only to say that my grandson was really impressed with it, and has been raving about it all day.
