Q: Is the strap breathable and comfortable for long walks/hiking?

Quite so.It is lightweight sling bag,the strap is breathable and good qulity. I wear this bag everyday and fell comfortable.

Q: How much does it weigh when empty?

I would say about 1.1lb. It's very light.

Q: Is it water resistant?

Yes,I used a water can on it and the water beaded up,I've never had any issue while walking in the rain,my contents were always dry. Really good against light rain,can not be used in heavy rain.
