NICEYRIG Cage for Panasonic Lumix G9/GH5II/GH5/GH5S, with NATO Rail Cold Shoe - 349

No complaints. Build quality is good for the price and fits the g9 well

I’m a professional real estate photographer/videographer, and I use my G9 for quick property highlight videos. I’m constantly on the go, with my cameras getting thrown in and out of bags several times a day. This cage now lives on my camera full-time. It provides a little added protection to the camera, and the two well-positioned shoe mounts and numerous 1/4” mounts makes it super easy to attach my wireless mic receiver, field monitor, or anything else. As a result, it’s sped up my workflow by significantly reducing my setup time on site. The cage is also very lightweight, which is important to me because I frequently mount my camera on a DJI RSC 2 gimbal. The caged G9 balances on the gimbal just as easily as it does sans-cage.

I have this for a g9. It does fit, but it’s not ideal. I don’t have any inappropriate contact but some controls are hard to reach. I can’t comment on how it fits a GH5 but this is advertised as working for both so I’m reviewing just the G9 side of things.I got this because I need a top handle for some video, and didn’t want to use a hot shoe top handle or a universal cage.The placement of things like cold shoes is a bit haphazard. The hole spacing doesn’t line up with some accessories so I think the same haphazard comment applies there as well. Fit and finish are ok. It is chunky in places it doesn’t need to be, and made of small screwed together parts in areas I want to be strong. It doesn’t make you marvel at the craftsmanship but serves a utilitarian purpose acceptably.If you are thinking of shooting stills with this attached, think twice. You can do it, but it’s awkward.I have had fitted cages on other cameras but this is my first from this brand. Honestly, this one makes me appreciate the others a lot more. Unfortunately, the g9 is an older camera and not many manufacturers are still producing cages for it, especially cheaper cages.In short, it’s fine if you need a cage for a specific reason but don’t intend to use the cage all the time. It’s smaller than a universal cage. It lets you attach things to your camera, and remove the camera without tearing everything down. Mine will end up in a “just in case” (aka junk) drawer waiting for occasional use rather than as a constant fixture on the camera.Again, this is all relative to the g9.

Does NOT fit the Lumix G9. Ended up scuffing and scratching the mode selecting dial wheel! 😡😡😡 Only good thing is that Amazon accepts returns within 30 days. Item was returned and got my money back.Gave it 2 stars as the product build and finish was nice and sturdy. Just wish it was really made for the Lumix g9.

I just received one of these, tried my Panasonic G9 with it but the fit was not great. Because it is a generic unit meant for mainly the GH 5 models, this has some shortcomings for the G9. The 1/4 securing screw on the bottom only attaches to the camera by around 1 and a half threads, no where near secure enough. The two prong “arms” on the top rail barely miss the top center of the camera where the hot shoe is located and if you are not carefully they could mark the camera body. Having 2 nato side rails is good, but they are screwed in top and bottom, not formed as 1 piece like the Smallrig G9 cage so I am returning this to get the Smallrig cage instead.

I don’t know which camera this is for, but it’s not for the G9. The top right dials do not fit, nor can you even put the actual camera in the cage, and the cage isn’t formed to a lumix g9 or even gh5. Would have been one star if it weren’t for the build quality, which is solid and similar to the small rig brand.Don’t waste your money on this if you have a G9 spend the extra dough for the small rig product.

I bought this cage thinking that if it's advertised as fitting the GH5, my GH4 should fit just fine. Unfortunately the cage is too short for my camera to fit without loosening the screws holding the top and sliding it forward, causing the top of the cage to cover one of the user-defined function buttons. I have no idea how someone could actually fit a GH5 into this thing since that camera is about 3mm taller than mine. It's a shame because I usually like Niceyrig's products, but I feel like I should have spent a bit more on a Smallrig or Tilta cage and saved myself the hassle of having to return this one.

The media could not be loaded.  Since I put my camera in this cage I haven’t taken it out. The only bad thing is that WB button rubs against the camera but is not pressed.
