Update: Besides the rust the entire gate broke in less than 3 months. There has to be better options with a company that stand behind their product.PreviousWe bought this because it was made for outdoors. It is sturdy and we have had it up for about 3 weeks. However, it is already starting to rust, which for an outdoor product should not be happening. If you want something that may last it doesn't look like this is the right product.

Attractive finish and functions very well. Latch is easy and not fussy, even when gate is lodged firmly in place with pressure pads tightly screwed into door frame. Feels sturdy, we are using inside only so I'm not concerned about rust resistance. Easy to set up with hardware options for both screw-in and tension installation.UPDATE:. Still stand by my earlier review, but recently learned that climbers can easily scale this gate because of it's horizontal bars. Lol now that's a sight!A MUST HAVE for small dogs and small-breed puppies - it's surprising how hard it is to find a quality walk-through gate with slats and edges spaced close enough so the little ones can't wiggle through!!! We have a very active puppy who will squeeze through regular walk through gates and jump + scramble over gates low enough for us to step over. Hilarious to watch, but not so much when you actually have something else you need to do.

I reviewed this product before & gave it 5 stars because my two dogs were not able to get out. However, once my (12 lb) chihuahua/ rat terrier mix got older she was able to jump over it easily. This still seems to be the best gate that I've seen so far, so I gave it 4 stars. I was able to add a few inches to the bottom by taking one of the extension pieces & turning it horizontal. I raised the gate up higher & used some zip ties to secure the extra "side attachment" to the bottom part of the gate. This is not how it's supposed to work, but it bought us a few more months before our chihuahua starting jumping over it. She jumps so high now I don't think any gate would have worked. It did still keep out our (20 lb) french bulldog/ boxer mix. She was never able to get out of this gate. I think this gate would be good if you have a dog that's not a jumper.

For the most this is exactly what I wanted and it was described perfectly. It arrived in a timely fashion, is easy to install and use.It does the job. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5, is that it already is showing signs of 'rusting'. Very minor, but my experience has shown that I don't think this will stand up to outdoor conditions for too too long, and that is what I need it for.

Got this for the bottom of my stairs outside the deck so my old lady dog can't go up and hurt herself since she's not doing great on stairs any longer. :( there is a few rust spots on it after the first rain so they had to be there to begin with. This is the only "outdoor" walk through gate I found on Amazon or online for that matter. Hoping it won't rust any further and start to look bad.

Seems to be an ok quality. Doubt it would be sturdy enough for a large breed. I couldn't get it to work on my deck & even waited for a family member to come in town and add trim to the area but the gate still wouldn't fit due to its design. **it does NOT fit into all sizes within the stated range** It cannot be extended but has additions to add (in the 2-3" range). Unfortunately the increment just didn't fit and, since I waited to have someone add trim, am not able to return it. What a waste of money!!!

I have an apartment with a large front porch area. I purchased this gate to put in the entryway so I could let my dog hang out there, so I was looking for something that was weatherproof, nice looking and tall enough for my dog. I made the mistake of jumping the gun and not measuring before I ordered so I had to kind of "rig" it to reach the wall but it's still very sturdy regardless. The gate is about 4ft tall, I have a 60lb lab she's about 3ft tall and not a bumper so this worked out for me but if your dog is larger they could very well jump over it. The color is more of a dark brown/bronze which is exactly the same color as the railing outside my porch. The doggie door is a nice feature too but unfortunately my dog is too large to fit through it.
